WANT TO BE AN AUPAIR...? Girls and Boys aged 18 – 27 are allowed into the United Kingdom under the HOME OFFICE Au Pair scheme. They do not receive a wage, but they are given pocket money to cover their expenses and help they give a Host Family with childcare and light housework. This ranges from minimum £70-90 per week, depending on the number of hours worked. This is normally from 25 – 35 hours per week. This covers Girls and Boys from all EU countries. Au Pairs are also allowed from the following countries. Switzerland, Norway, Turkey, Croatia, Macedonia, Bosnia, Herzegovina However Au Pairs from these countries can only work for 25 hours and be given approximately £60 per week. Visas will be required for Au Pairs coming from Turkey, Croatia, Macedonia, and Bosnia Herzegovina.
At the moment no other countries are accepted by the HOME OFFICE to be Au Pair in the United Kingdom. Therefore unless you have EU nationality or one of the above countries, please do not complete our on-line Application Form. Au Pairs must have their own bedroom and live as part of the family They have full board Be encouraged to attend a language class Have 2 full days free per week Au Pairs are encouraged to attend language school, and this is normally twice a week, but each school has different hours per week. Although a lot of language schools have been offering free classes, this is due to change in September 2007, when schools will normally charge a fee each term. Although this is generally the responsibility of the Au Pair, some Host Families help towards the language school. Check our FAQ page now for the things you need to do!
